Makai Magazine

THis is my little buddy, ROcco. I call him one of my "love bug". He is holding up a local magazine called Makai Magazine that I was in! ha! You know, when I met my husband Tony he was the one that would get articles, pictures...etc. Then I had my kids...now they get articles and picutres in the magazines....well, I'd have to say, I am stepping into the limelight at my old age of 44!!!! ha! Cover!? yup! Thank you, Lono, from Makai for doing this! I wish I was sponsored so I could get a photo incentive! ha!

DEFINITION of "LOVE BUG"= My husband and I used to be youth pastors for about 12 years or so. That is when we really started teaching surfing. Those were the days! SUrf camps with 100 kids! Boards, cooking, singing, surfing, and controlling all these kids to be good! Well, you get close to these kids to where they are like your "kids" but they have own parents raising them doing the dirty work! These kids now have grown up and have kids of their own. So there is a tender affection I have toward their children. That affection I feel feels more like a grandparent's love rather than a parents love. But I can't say, "THis is my grandson." That is deserving only to their grandma or grandpa. So I came up with a word that will be able to describe these little precious ones in my life...they are my "love bugs" (I first thought of "love buckets" but now I say "love bugs". So when I have one of them and someone askes, "Oh, who is this?" I don't sit there trying to explain, "Well, his father was in our youth group...blah....blah..." It takes too long. So I just say, "This is my love bug." Period. Nothing more said. Right?! PS> YOu may use this word too. Then one day I'll be able to say that I started a word and it is now in the dictionary!~ ;)
