Oh my gosh, you will NEVER believe it!!!! In these past 10 years of surfing longboard, I have wanted to HANG 5 (or 10)! I have had 5 children along the way and they all have surpassed my talent! UGH! Hanging 5 is when your toes are "hanging" off the nose. Not just on the tip of the nose of the board, but clinched off the edge! I watch my daughter do it like she is eating breakfast! I have practiced and practiced and practiced only to come so short! But TODAY, I did it!!!! It was the first time on my daugthers longboard that our dear friend Ben Aipa shaped her and I HIT IT! BAM!!! Right there like you would not believe! The nose was calling me..."come tammy....come here and hang your long skinny toes off the sides and grip on to the edge!" HA! And the best part was my brother, Kirby, was there taking pictures!!! The first thing I said was, " DID YOU GET THAT!?@##()" And you know what that punk brother said? He just laughed!!!! LOUD! So I didn't know if I planted a Hang 5 with style, or if I did it and looked stupid! OH, brothers!
I got the shot after I had to beg my dumb brother to send it to me ASAP! Does he realize how huge of an accomplishment this was for his beautiful sister? Of course, he milked it and sent it with a note: "PUT THE CHECK IN THE MAIL". Brothers.
And as for shapers.....Ben Aipa, you ROCK!!! You are the bomb! You gave me the thrill of a lifetime!!! (by the way, he had to hear my whole story because I called him right after my session! I am going to have a board shaped by him for me so I won't sink the nose the next time I go there!....Ben, order me a blank, cuz here I come!)
