I took my son, Micah, and his friend, Barak, to surf Pipeline the other week. It was a good 4-8 feet (which is 8-16 foot faces). My other kids stayed home to finish up their school work. I sat on the beach alone and had a "moment". It was 23 years ago when I met my husband, Tony, and started sitting on the same beach, in the same place, but watching him surfing the same wave. I couldn't believe that time has brought me to this point where I am watching my own son surfing one of the most dangerous, but exciting waves in the world! This was his first year surfing "real" Pipe and it was awesome watching him get some waves. Micah is 16 years old now and I can remember also watching the Pipeline Masters in 91' with him on the beach. He must have been 2 months old. Time surely flys!
